Last week I went to Chicken cottage in the mall at JBR, Dubai. Its located on the ground floor with a great space for seating. The most intriguing part of their food is that they don’t use any preservatives for their meals. All ingredients are halal and fresh. I was fasting when I went here and planned to break my fast with the crispy chicken. So I ordered and waited for sunset to enjoy the meal. The service was a bit slow and I actually had to wait 20 minutes more but the restaurant was full of fresh fried chicken aroma so I didn’t mind. I was given complimentary dates and water.
The fried chicken I ordered was spicy and tasted really good, they have a sauce station where you can grab mayonnaise, ketchup, salsa as much as you like. I loved their salsa. It paired amazingly well with the fried chicken. Also ordered the spicy grilled chicken which was a surprise because it was superb. The flavors, tenderness of chicken and the glaze on top with that perfect charred flavor was outstanding. Loved it! I highly recommend you try their grilled chicken.
Next came the Monster burger which was actually a monster. Layered with a crunchy hashbrown and a chicken patty, this burger was pretty good. The only thing missing was a tangy sauce inside, so I slathered salsa inside and munched on this beauty 😉
For dessert, we got the chocolate brownie with vanilla icecream that was gorgeous! you can never go wrong with this combination. Absolutely loved it. Thank you for hosting me Team Chicken Cottage.
I remember walking past Wagamama in London and looking at the long queue outside waiting to be seated in rainy 6 degrees. And in that moment I thought to myself that their food must be legit.
I recently received an invite to Wagamama in university city sharjah for a review and this name surely rang a bell in my head. I instantly said yes and went for the review. Its a lovely place with simple interiors, open kitchen and an outside seating area too.
Before I jump on the description of what I ordered and how it was, I want you to know that their service was top notch!
So, I ordered their steamed chicken and tomato buns that were cloudy soft to touch and were loaded with dynamite sauce, crispy fried chicken and thin slices of fresh tomatoes. I was left wanting for more, so much so that I think I’m going to order more of these the next time I visit. I found them brilliant! (quite, literally!)
Then I laid my hands on the best ramen I have ever had. (I swear!) The winner here was the ramen broth; complex and comforting. If you’re having a bad day, suffering from cold or anything. This ramen speaks to your taste buds on levels you don’t know exist before. The spring onions and red onions make so much sense and the lemon wedge on top equals to the cherry on this cake.
I also had the oh-so-famous Firecracker chicken to see what the fuss was all about and hey! the buzz is real. This dish is going to awestruck you in real ways. Now I know that this dish generally has a whole lot of spiciness in it but what me made me even more excited was the fact that there were other flavors in there too that weren’t overpowered by the high chilli quotient. Sweet, spicy, tangy- all of these were perfectly balanced.
So happy I ordered the wagamama iced tea (strawberry & mango) as it paired very well with the firecracker chicken.
I urge you to put this place on your bucket lists as it is definitely worth a visit!
I think you all are going to agree with the fact that Netflix and chill go very well with pizzas. Last weekend, I ordered debonair’s pizza and binge watched “House of cards”.
I went to their website and the 99 Aed/. deal got me shook. It was three large pizzas for 99 only. So I went for it and ordered a spicy chicken pizza (double stack), Hawaiian chicken pizza and chicken mushroom pizza. I found the online ordering system a bit difficult as from the moment you choose the pizza flavor, all the sub-categories that show up are confusing. For example, when I chose spicy chicken pizza (29 aed) were already added to my cart and then I was asked to choose toppings where the options were cheese, veg toppings, non veg toppings and sauces. Now, for a moment I thought why would I have to add cheese separately, isn’t that what pizza usually comes with? Then I figured out, it must be extra. I suggest the management to add the word extra to the options so it becomes clear.
I added only one instruction with the order that said “please bring the order on time and it should be hot” and they lived it up to it. The pizza was actually 2 minutes earlier than the given time frame.
spicy chicken pizza
The spicy chicken pizza was really good, love the fiery jalapenos with creamy cheese. But the bread was really hard and chewy.
Hawaiian pizza
Loved this one, the pineapples on top were perfectly caramelized but the dough was still hard.
chicken and mushroom pizza
This was super delicious, especially if you have someone in friends/family who doesn’t like spicy food. It was subtle and tasty. he mushrooms were grilled well but the dough was same hard and chewy.
Overall, I love the variety of flavors to choose from but the dough was pretty troublesome. Thank you for delivering us delicious pizzas Team Debonairs.
I am fortunate to be a part of Ghee Rice celebrations on their 5th Anniversary last night, where I tasted some brilliant dishes and it was a brand new experience for me as I have never tried Keralite cuisine before.
Ghee rice started from a passion to enjoy good food in a surreal ambiance in Abu dhabi and now they have officially opened their doors to Dubai. During last night’s event I was familiarized with their latest fusion dishes through interactive and experiential tasting sessions. As someone who has never been to India, I always wondered how their cuisine must taste like especially Keralite cuisine. I was afraid that their food would lack flavors and I was just proved wrong by every single dish that I tasted last night.
Amuse Bouche:
Chicken Kunafe and Le chattipatil
Loved the chicken kunafe and its simplicity, the crispy coating protected lightly spiced chicken mince that just melted in mouth.
Mini burgers
Salad Tasting Platter:
If this is how salads are done, I won’t mind living on these. The chefs nailed every salad on the plate. There was whole wheat, muttabel, quinoa and fattoush. I can’t pick one because all of them were equally good.
Appetizers Tasting Platter:
The appetizers were absolutely spot on in terms of flavor, texture, presentation and combination. There was Inji puli prawn thats actually prawn cooked and dunked in thick tamarind chutney, curry leaves paneer, Mumbai keema, black diamond and Irani tikka. I vividly remember people went in awe of inji puli prawns the moment everyone tasted them.
Main Courses:
We began with the beautiful Rajasthani chicken lalmaas that was perfectly balanced with spices and the chicken was tender with subtle hints of orange color to it.

2. Keralian Fish mango curry:
This curry was densely yellow and tasted like whisper of a dream, the composition of spices in it remain unknown to me as I was unable to guess those but every element in this dish was lovely. I paired it with the naan paratha to enjoy it fully.

3. Malabar Erachichore:Â
The servers untied a giant bundle of banana leaves to unveil this dish and the entire room was filled with aromatic rice. This was a comforting rice dish that tasted divine.
4. Le Cordon Bleu:
Le Cordon Bleu
This is a famous chicken dish where you stuff a chicken cutlet with spinach and creame cheese and then fold it and cover it in egg and bread crumbs and voila! loved it here. Especially because it was a huge shift from classic menu here.
5. Penne Alfredo Pasta:
Penne Alfredo Pasta
Speaking of a shift from the classic menu, there was penne alfredo pasta on the table too. And yes, it was beautiful. The Beschamel sauce was cooked to perfection with wilted mushrooms.
6. Australian Lamb shank dum pukht Biryani:
Australian lamb shank dum pukht biryani
This was the main course that stood out like a champion for me because it was absolutely perfect and packed with bags of flavors, the lamb was falling apart on one touch and the rice were beautiful, each grain was separate.
Desserts:
For desserts, they served each one of us a dedicated platter with some amazing sweet dishes. It comprised of a gulab jamun, pistachio cheese cake, cheese kunafe, elaneer pudding, fruit creame and blueberry mousse. My favorite were the elaneer pudding and kunafe. Simply nailed the desserts!
Thank you once again for letting me be a part of your festive night Ghee Rice Restaurant, It was a pleasure tasting the new fusion menu.
