fries – Captain Lychee

Just one of those days when dressing up feels like a chore and I end up eating in my car. Blessed to be in Dubai especially on such days because there are numerous dine-in-your-car places where people just park their cars and eat at the ease of their comfort. Headed over to Rabbash cafeteria in mamzar where finding a parking spot is always an issue but because it was a weekday, I found parking easily.

I ordered chicken funtasia and zinger chicken waffle burger, both came with curly fries and ketchup mayo. But the food took long time to arrive. I waited more than 30 minutes in the car and that left me a bit disappointed.

I liked funtasia, it was generously filled with black olives, cheese, chicken and onion bits. The bread wasn’t oily at all, I have had funtasia from numerous restaurants previously and most of them were dripping with oil but this one was nice and dry.

The zinger chicken waffle burger can be improved as the waffle was too doughy and not crispy at all. Believe me, I had it instantly so the fact that it wasn’t hot the moment they delivered it only gets challenging once the delivered food is consumed late. I am yet to try the shakes and desserts from here. Fingers crossed for my next visit/order.

Last week I went to Chicken cottage in the mall at JBR, Dubai. Its located on the ground floor with a great space for seating. The most intriguing part of their food is that they don’t use any preservatives for their meals. All ingredients are halal and fresh. I was fasting when I went here and planned to break my fast with the crispy chicken. So I ordered and waited for sunset to enjoy the meal. The service was a bit slow and I actually had to wait 20 minutes more but the restaurant was full of fresh fried chicken aroma so I didn’t mind. I was given complimentary dates and water.

The fried chicken I ordered was spicy and tasted really good, they have a sauce station where you can grab mayonnaise, ketchup, salsa as much as you like. I loved their salsa. It paired amazingly well with the fried chicken. Also ordered the spicy grilled chicken which was a surprise because it was superb. The flavors, tenderness of chicken and the glaze on top with that perfect charred flavor was outstanding. Loved it! I highly recommend you try their grilled chicken.

Next came the Monster burger which was actually a monster. Layered with a crunchy hashbrown and a chicken patty, this burger was pretty good. The only thing missing was a tangy sauce inside, so I slathered salsa inside and munched on this beauty 😉

For dessert, we got the chocolate brownie with vanilla icecream that was gorgeous! you can never go wrong with this combination. Absolutely loved it. Thank you for hosting me Team Chicken Cottage.

I happen to visit Miami vibes in Al-Khawaneej for the dubai food festival and found Holy fries there. The food truck looks clean and the delicious fries and hot dogs along with burger are on the display so you can choose accordingly.

I tried the fries with pink mushroom sauce and instantly fell in love with them because of the siracha hints in there that compliment the creamy sauce with crispy fries. Even though the fries were slathered in the mushroom sauce, they were crispy and nicely coated with mild spices.

Also had the potato wedges in white mushroom sauce, the sauce was commendable. Its creaminess was splendid. The portion size was a lot and I would recommend you share between two unless you’re a fries monster 😀 like myself.

The most interesting fact here is that they make every thing from scratch including their sausages that aren’t frozen and the mushrooms aren’t canned. So much so the spices are also bought from spice souk and are pure.

Along with these delicious treats, I sipped on the rosey delight with saffron, I must tell you that it was beautiful in terms of flavor and you can not miss this on your visit. Hurry up! the food fest ends 9th March and so does their food truck.

It is a very popular restaurant and bakery in sharjah and Ajman where they serve outstanding barbecue, shawarmas and a whole lot of other items. They have a huge bakery inside where you can buy freshly baked breads, cookies, marinated meat on skewers, kofta and so much more. The good thing is that every item has an expiry date mentioned on it to make sure that you are consuming fresh foods only.

They have an enormous space with aromatic grilled meat surrounding you once you sit inside. What I admire the most is their pocket friendly prices on the menu. Everything is just super affordable and tasty. Their service is amazing and everything is made inside in the kitchen from breads to meat. Everything!

I tried their chicken and cheese manakeesh which was spot on! Both in terms of flavor and quality. The filling was fantastic and it was served straight from the oven.

I also had their mixed grill platter which is composed of grilled meat, grilled kofta, kebab halabi and chicken kebab along with french fries. It is a pure treat for carnivores as the meat is cooked to perfection, juicy on the inside and charred from the outside.

I highly recommend you visit this place.
