Fall in love with grills again.

The city’s finest Grills restaurant has so much to offer such as Salmon, Lamb chops, Grilled pepper chicken and their Chinese Bhel that’s offered complimentary before your meal arrives is simply amazing.

What I loved most about Back to Grills was the fact that it is great in all three areas: Food, Look and feel of the restaurant and service. It is a fairly small place with outdoor seating available as well serving Grilled, Asian, Continental and BBQ cuisines. Their food hygiene has been rated Excellent, which is a plus point.

One cannot help but notice the colorful decor inside the restaurant including the creative wood art where the restaurant name plate is placed. The menu is vast with everything from salads to grills, shareable platters, Asian bowls, sizzlers, burgers, mocktails and milkshakes and so much more.

We started off with the chinese bhel that was refreshing unlike the heavy buns and cheese sticks you get as a complimentary starter in most of the restaurants. Our first item on the table was B2G fiery prawns that were a treat for the eyes and soul. Beautifully drenched in a coconut oil based marinade, the prawns were an absolute hit. I would like to mention here that the presentation was extra ordinary.

We then had shareable non-veg platter that comprised of shish tawok, smoked chicken leg, chicken tikka, turkish lamb kebabs and lamb boti. Everything on this platter was pretty good. I specifically loved the lamb kebabs, they were so tender and the combination of spices here was amazing.

On the side, I was sipping Pattaya Breeze that’s made from Guava, galangal (you can think of this as ginger’s sister) and tobasco. Yep! you heard that right! And it tastes beautiful! I would totally recommend you order this one.

I loved their asian bowl- Kung Pao chicken, the sauce was so tangy and intense and the noodles on the side were subtle with bits of fried garlic that paired so well together. I feel this should be a must have dish here.

For Dessert, I had to go with  Tangerine baked yogurt as I was curious to what is this, Yes! I have never had baked yogurt which is why I wanted to try it here and I am so glad that I did. It was wonderful! The flavor was like having warm ricotta cheese with tangerine on a cold night. *gosh*

Thank you so much Team Back to grills for having us over. So impressed with the quality of food that I have already planned my next visit.

Meals that make you happy at India Palace

India Palace is widely known in Dubai for its authentic quality meals with an evident royal touch in terms of flavors and presentations. I recently visited Indian Palace in Garhoud for ala carte lunch and I must say that I was impressed with wholesome meals with refreshing addition to my palate as a foodie.

We started off with malai shorba that’s actually pretty amazing with the warmth of chicken stock and gently spiced creame that blends to give a lovely flavor especially for those that have dry throat or runny nose. This is the soup for ya’ll.

For salad, I opted for Murgh tikka salad that was presented beautifully in a papadum bowl, the trick is to break that bowl and mix everything together to get that delicious flavor. The chicken was absolutely lip smacking and I recommend this chicken salad to anyone who does not usually pick salads because of bland taste.

I was then served shahi seekh kebab, these were basically mutton kebabs that tasted pretty good. Although I felt the amount of whole spices could have been toned down a bit to enhance the original flavor of mutton.

My choice of curry for the day was Murgh Makhanwala because I was informed by the kind server that this is butter chicken. The curry was luscious and tangy, the chicken was grilled perfectly and I paired this with laccha paratha for an awesome experience.

Then I tried chicken dum biryani that was fabulous in terms of the quality of rice and aromatic spices in there and the chicken was cooked well. Overall the biryani was pretty great.

I kept sipping on mango lassi throughout the lunch since it was so refreshing.

For dessert, I had ras malai that is soft cheese dumplings that are soaked in saffron infused sugar syrup for that melting sugary taste.

Thank you Team India Palace for a wonderful lunch. Your service was impeccable and the quality of meals was great. I shall come back for more soon.

The Good Bowl serving beyond nutrition.

I know I have a reputation of always indulging in junk food and dipping my bread in oily curries but I have to confess this that I am a bit skeptical of salads and soups and clean eating in general. Recently, I was introduced to The good bowl that has over 10 outlets in Dubai and all are delivery only and they’re open from 7:30 am to 3 am. How awesome is that? I bet making healthier choices is so much easier now.

While you take a sneak peak at their menu, you’ll realize the salad bowls have so much variety and each bowl is priced under 50 Aed. I find that pretty exciting because eating healthy is super expensive everywhere around the world but the good bowl is offering nutritious bowls at such affordable rates.

I tried their lentil and salmon bowl priced at 49 Aed and the spicy bulgar chicken & pomelo thats priced at 33 Aed only. Both the bowls were full of fresh vegetables and protien. The portion size was more than enough for one person. If you are aware of the famous Lebanese mudardara then you are going to love the lentil and salmon bowl because it is made with a mix of rice, rocca leaves, lentils, salmon chunks baked with hints of lemon, cherry tomatoes, fresh cucumbers and caramelized onions to give you the best flavor.

The spicy bulgar chicken and pomelo was super filling with baby spinach, yellow bell pepper, radish, pomegranate seeds, cucumber, tomatoes and coriander. This one is asure shot to offer to your friends who can’t stay away from chicken yet they want to integrate clean eating habits.

I highly recommend you order from The Good Bowl and try yourself. These bowls aren’t just healthy, they are full of amazing flavors too!

Chase the flavors with Manoushe street

Manoushe street has always been the talk of foodies for as long as I remember but I never really got a chance to try them out. Last week I accepted a blogger’s meet invite after a month I guess and I am so happy that I went there and tried their menu because it they had various combination of breads, salads, pizzas, wraps, Labenese kaak and manakeesh.

IMG_5547

What I loved the most was how all manakeesh and pizza had this soft doughy bread that tasted beautiful along with their toppings. If you are a vegetarian then you my friend are in luck because they serve amazing veg manakeesh and pizza. Their potato wedges and homemade hummus was pretty awesome to begin with.

From pizza, I tried pepperoni pizza and three cheese pizza where my favorite was the pepperoni one. It was fresh, juicy pepperoni and the soft base made so much sense. Also, I would totally recommend you order their baked halloumi; even if you are not a halloumi fan. These guys bake it to perfection.

The tidbites with zaatar and spinach were also very nice. I specifically admired the sujuk because it was loaded with cheese and chicken. Tastes so much like a quesadilla but only more in terms of filling.

Thanks for having me Team Manoushe street, your service and quality of food was amazing.

My experience at Peppermill

One of the toughest decisions to make while shopping in the mall is “where to eat?” (First world problems) I know. So, I had my eyes on this restaurant since a long time and I finally had dinner here. The ambiance is lively and there’s room for a lot of people. They also have separators for specific dining requirements.

I ordered their Chicken sev puri from the starters that turned out quite wonderful except for the fact that the chicken wasn’t quite adding up with the chaat. There were juicy chutneys in there and the creamy yogurt was simply amazing.

Ordered the katiafi prawns from appetizers, these were amazing. The best thing about this dish was their mango salsa that wowed me. It was placed in small quantity on the plate but was packed with intense flavors.

Next, I had the soya chaap curry which was the winner for me. The curry was composed of some serious spices, no nonsense. I love a luscious curry with pure spices and this is exactly the one I had been looking for. Also the soya chaap were velvety soft and flavoured well too. I request you to order this even if you are a hardcore non-veg 🙂

IMG_2931

For dessert, I opted for ras malai milkcake, it came with lots of crushed laddoo topping. I felt there was too much zafran in there for my liking but overall it was delicious.

Rich flavors and great presentations only at Dillicious

Do you wish to experiment with beautiful looking dishes and don’t want to compromise on the flavor at the same time? You better head out for Dillicious in Karama as they are experts in delicious meals and the presentation of dishes is simply amazing. Along with all this, the prices are super affordable too.

I took one friend and stepped into Dillicious on a fine Saturday afternoon, the staff greeted us well and we couldn’t help but notice the quirky interiors with an actual truck parked inside making the restaurant literally instagram worthy.

IMG_4772

We placed our orders and within minutes, our dishes arrived. This makes me so happy when the restaurant does justice to a foodie’s time and brings their order quickly without compromising on the quality. We were served a complimentary starter that had chickpea and yogurt with nice cone shaped papadum.

IMG_4777

Then came the showstopper murgh lasooni kebab, they arrived with smoke diffusing out of the container and the whole place smelled like barbecue kebabs. These were absolutely smashing in terms of flavor and tenderness. I highly recommend you order these upon your visit.

IMG_4781

I also ordered a samosa chaat that came in a pretty hanging plate and the portion size was amazing, shareable between two people with good appetites. The chaat was loaded with sweet and chilli chutneys, aalu samosa and lots of creamy yogurt.

IMG_4788

I then had the handi meat, the color of its curry was so gorgeous that it was salivating my tastebuds as soon as I laid my eyes on it. The meat was tender and the curry was so delicious, not extreme spicy, perfect balance of flavors. If you prefer having naan then order that with this 🙂

IMG_4787

Along with all these goodies, I ordered a fresh orange juice and Delhi’s special spiced Shikanji that was star of all the drinks that I have devoured lately. It was a beautiful blend of spiced lemonade that paired well with all the meaty dishes.

IMG_4802

For dessert, I had their sizzling brownie that sizzled all the way to our table. It tasted really nice with the vanilla icecream on top. However, I would recommend they don’t heat up the sizzler too much to prevent the brownie from burning from below. The chocolate sauce that came with it was super fun to drizzle and enjoy!

IMG_4823

I request you to not leave without their masala tea that’s bang on! it comes in a colorful glass and tastes strong enough to kick start your tired brain.

Thank you for your hospitality Team Dillicious. It was a wonderful dining experience with you 🙂

Food with integrity at Bombay Dreams

It is almost so rare that I visit a restaurant for review and everything on the menu speaks to the foodie in me on another level. I happen to visit Bombay dreams in Oud Mehta for a blogger’s meet and was awestruck by the dishes served. The food made me so happy, there were genuine flavors packed inside each dish and I would highly recommend you take your loved ones here even if they don’t usually enjoy a pure vegetarian meal.

IMG_4502

Bombay dreams served 100% vegetarian dishes with a blend of aromatic flavors and spices to tempt your taste buds. Their interiors and simple and neat, colorful walls with hand paintings. The menu is quite vast so take your time before you order.

Indian Starters:

The first starter that I tried was Beetroot tikki, that’s basically mashed beetroot with coriander and cheese rolled into a ball and dunked in bread crumbs and eventually deep fried or baked. It tasted amazing! I feel i’m short for words to describe this here. It was the right kind of spicy and sweet. The cheese was just lovely on the inside!

Next, I had the Batata Hibiscus where baby potatoes were covered in strawberry chutney. The flavors here were pretty awesome.

Halloumi cigar was another appetizer that tasted delicious. It was simple cigar stuffed with halloumi cheese topped with fried onion.

Then came the Sambal Tofu where fried tofu was tossed in chilli sauce and spring onions. The best bit of this dish was Sambal, it had a kick to its chili quotient. I’m not much of a fan when it comes to tofu but this one was pretty nice.

The other item that stood out was Bird eye chili paneer, the crispy potato along with creamy capsicum and chili paneer was fantastic.

Mains:

All the main course dishes were amazing, my favorites were Thai khichri, tomatillo risotto and snow white pasta. Thai khichri is a must have, its super creamy and has a zesty tomato punch that makes the khichri overall beautiful.

The portion sizes were quite generous. I suggest you share between two people.

Desserts:

As you know the trend of theatre food has gone viral and everyone seems to enjoy it. One dessert “Ghewar with cucmber gelato” was presented dramatically with smoke coming out from the sides and eveything. I personally loved the flavors in this, the cucumber gelato was creamy and the taste of cucumber was quite evident.

I request you to visis Bombay Dreams with big apetite and high hopes as this restaurant’s food is not going to disappoint you! Also, its really pocket friendly.

Crave the taste- Projeto Acai

There’s a new trend at the breakfast table and everyone seems to be enjoying it. It’s the Acai bowl that’s in fashion. Generally, Acai is a berry that contains antioxidants, fiber and heart healthy fats as well as a lot of other nutrients. It has a versatile flavor that perfectly compliments other ingredients and is usually served with strawberries and other fruits and nuts.

IMG_4446
Acai bowl (Samba)

Projeto Acai is a small place in Marina, Dubai where the colorful interiors represent thier menu. Such wide variety of poke bowls. acai bowls, salads, wraps and mocktails to choose from.

I ordered the Walnut and feta salad, it was prepared with such elegance that every bite of this salad was crunchy, zesty and full of flavors. It had dried raisins, caramelized walnuts and red cabbage with subtle hints of balsamic vinegar and feta cheese.

IMG_4456
Walnut & Feta salad

For the acai, I chose “Samba” which is their best seller. It has strawberries, mangoes, banana, granola and walnuts. It was a beautiful bowl of goodness that tasted perfect. I think I can give up on ice cream forever If I get this in exchange.

IMG_4457
Poke Bowl (Six pack salmon)

While choosing poke bowl, I opted for the “six pack salmon” because the description made a really pretty picture in my head and to my surprise, it was even more colorful. The base of this bowl was buckwheat noodles, wild salmon, edamame beans cucumber, mango, avocado and garnished with sesame seeds, spring onions and coriander sauce. The portion size was so generous, even though I chose the small sized bowl.

Best chaaps in Dubai- Sadak Chaap

Sadak chaap is a small newly opened place in Karama  (food street of Dubai). Their menu is simple and full of some beautiful flavors merged together to give you a fulfilling appetite. For readers, who don’t know what a chaap is, its actually small pieces of soya that are marinated in different spices and baked. Soya chaap contains more protein than eggs, meat, fish or milk. It is the best source of protein for vegan foodies who also wish to delve into an arena of flavors.

Their menu has such catchy items like “aam aadmi ki drink” and chaaps belonging to different states from Delhi to Italy. They’ve got it all!

IMG_3741

Welcome Drink:

I started off with “Sadak Chaas” that tastes exactly like a mint and chilli chutney but even more intense. Don’t gulp it down like a glass of lassi or you will choke because it has some serious kick of spices. It’s meant to be enjoyed in small sips.

IMG_3743
Sadak chaas

Chaap platter:

The chaap platter had chaaps from different states. There were delhi chaap, gujrati chaap, rajasthani chaap, haryanvi chaap, lahori chaap and I tell you that every single one of these tasted different. (in a good way)

IMG_3747

I know you must be curious about the Italian chaap so let’s discuss this first, it was loaded with creamy cheese and had subtle spiciness to it.  The Delhi chaap was similar, only creamy and no cheese.
My favorite chaap was Rajasthani because there were visible chili flakes on it.

IMG_3762
Rajashthani chaap

Chaap curry was absolutely spot on! tasted so much like butter chicken (even better). The whole wheat paratha that came with it was so soft and tasty. Both paired amazingly well together.

IMG_3761
The chaap in curry was velvety soft and melts in the mouth. Its amazing how their chefs manage to give so many flavors to one item.

IMG_3753

Also, tried the delhi chaap roll. They actually let you customize your own roll but I was quite happy with their selection of delhi chaap roll in the soft paratha. It was so creamy from the inside. And the mint chutney was its best match.

IMG_3764

Jaggery tea:

The jaggery tea was beautiful in terms of flavor and sweet element. Loved it. And guess what? It’s only priced at 3 aed.

IMG_3768

Thank you for your hospitality Team Sadak chaap. I applaud your creativity in terms of menu and flavor of the dishes served. Many thanks.
